Colde’s Blueprint Tour Takes Boston by Storm: A Night of Vibes with MaisonJiwoo and Basecamp
On August 23rd, Boston's House of Blues came alive as Colde, the genre-bending chameleon, headlined an unforgettable night with the smooth sounds of Jiwoo and Basecamp—an electrifying showcase of rising talent and genre fusion. A staple in the Korean underground scene for almost a decade, the former half of the duo OnoffOn paved his path by starting his label, Wavy.
Talents from the label include WavetoEarth, Khakii, and Apro. On this tour, Colde featured the talented band Basecamp and singer Jiwoo. Jiwoo is a Korean-Canadian Singer-songwriter and producer. To open a show, the artist has the feat of setting the show's tone. To be engaging to a stoic audience without having a clear indication of how the audience feels at first but still persevere. Jiwoo delivered sultry vocals and a presence of mystique reminiscent of Brent Fayez. My favorite song was Lustre, a vibey RNB track with a slight jazz influence. The song demonstrates his knowledge of musical technique. I was so impressed and could say more things about this artist. I will most likely share more thoughts on Jiwoo (who can be followed by his handle @maisonjiwoo) in an Artist Spotlight article soon.
The team at Wavy is intentional about working with artists who demonstrate a level of musical dexterity and star power that doesn't go unnoticed. The next act was introduced by Colde who MC'd between sets. Basecamp is a sensational duo comprised of Chae Wookjin and Moon Junho. They write, sing, play instruments, and produce. Although, they remind me of my favorite music duo Glen Check they deliver something so refreshing that I hope they take the comparison in stride. With influences from bossa nova, beach rock, and electronic music they kept the energy of the night up. The music from their latest release was so sonically diverse and a bit metropolitan in tone. Basecamp is now another new favorite in my rotation.
As the show heated up, it started to get a bit Colde in the venue. Colde's stage presence is unmatched. Before he even sings a note, the swagger in the way he moves is an obvious testament to the experience he has as a performer. I wish there was a certain moment I could say was more memorable than the next, but it was all spectacular. From him hyping up the crowd during "Poem (Shhh)" and his cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to getting the crowd to swoon to "WA-R-R" and "After Everything."
His ability to shift from high-energy anthems to sultry, heart-fluttering ballads showcased his range as an artist and left the audience in awe. The entire performance was a rollercoaster of emotions, a testament to his undeniable stage presence and musical genius.
As the night came to a close, it was clear that Colde, MaisonJiwoo, and Basecamp had delivered an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, the House of Blues was alive with energy, emotion, and pure musical artistry. Colde's magnetic presence, paired with MaisonJiwoo’s wavy vibes and Basecamp's smooth sounds, created a one-of-a-kind performance that left the crowd buzzing with excitement. It wasn’t just a concert—it was a journey through genres, emotions, and soundscapes that will undoubtedly linger in the hearts of everyone who attended. For those lucky enough to witness it, this show was a true celebration of what live music is all about connection, passion, and a night to remember.
